In Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, the middle school production of "Lion King" was a full-blown community effort with parents, neighbors and siblings going all-in to create costumes and sets worthy of the Met Gala.

The school at Arts & Letters 305 United, received a grant from Musical Theater International to stage the musical. The sold-out run culminated with a performance on Broadway along with other schools who received the grant.
